Gainesville Wildlife Control

The majority of my work is done using live cage traps, I use the best quality live traps I can find. I am confident that once an animal is in the trap it is NOT going to get back out!

Relocation is possible under Florida Law and we ill transport any critter to any legal location site of your choice providing they are not public lands or private land with out authorization.

Chiefland Wildlife Control

Is it legal to kill or relocate nuisance raccoons?

After eliminating food sources that may attract raccoons (pet food, unsecured trash cans and bird feeders), property owners may live-trap or humanely destroy raccoons causing damage to their property or relocate them on the same property without a permit. A Nuisance Wildlife Trapper Permit issued by the FWC is required to transport nuisance raccoons. These raccoons can not be released on state or public lands, or without the permission of a private-land owner who will allow the release of the raccoons on his property. Because relocated raccoons may spread disease among raccoon populations, and because they frequently cause other problems, some counties prohibit relocation. It is recommended that live-trapped raccoons be humanely euthanized.

For more information about other laws relating to destructive wildlife, visit: MyFWC.com/critters/policy.htm.
To learn about other ways to avoid and safely handle raccoon problems, visit MyFWC.com/critters/Raccoon.as

Unfortunately, some of my captures require dispatch or the euthanasia of the non native animals. When this option has to be undertaken, it is done strictly according to the laws of the State of Florida. For more on Euthnasia and animal handling please visit.

Gainesville Bat Control

Bats are absolutely wonderful winged, flying mammals that contribute a lot to our lives and environment. Bats do not belong in homes or in attics.

We understand and respect bats and you can count on us do do a complete job in removing and controlling bats in your home, bats in your attic, bats in your chimney, bats in your crawlspace and bats in your fireplace. We hope you agree we are the only Gainesville Bat Control Company you will ever need to call because we do it all – emergency bat removal, seal up your home to keep bats out, use an approved bat exclusion method that  allows bats to leave by flying outside yet creating a space to small for bats to re enter your home ever again.

We need to know the following information before you make the call when applicable:

1. Have you ever had bats before?

2. Do you hear any chirping or squaling noises?

3. What is the size (stories and square footage), type and age of your home?

4. Have you noticed any unexplainable droppings? (Guano)

5. Do you have a live bat in your living space now? Is it confined?

Emergency Bat Removal. Complete Bat Inspection. We get bats out of attics and keep them out of homes. We control bats by using approved bat exclusion techniques.

How Are Bat’s Removed From A Structure?

The approved method and most acceptable method involves what is called a bat exclusion.  A bat exclusion is simple to explain yet can be difficult because of the design of your structure, access to parts of your structure and condition of your structure.

The concept is to close off all possible secondary access points using high grade silicone caulking or better, using metal backing materials in the larger areas. The incorrect method involves the use of spray foam expanding materials such as ” Great Stuff ” found in most hardware stores. Expanding foam breaks down quickly due to exposure to the sun and other weather elements. Birds and other animals can quickly tear it apart and leave a open to a future bat invasion in months to a year or two.

Primary access points are the ones you see bats fly in and out of and special one way valves designed for specific bats species large and small that allow them to leave the home but never enter again. A proper exclusion with the exception of mother nature or work by yourself or a contractor should last for several years if done correctly. The company doing a bat exclusion should schedule a return trip and remove the one way valves and compeletly seal off of your home.

What I am not sharing here are all the trade secrets involved from special situations vents, chimneys, fireplaces, eaves, vent  screens, siding and that bat work is dangerous which involves working in situations even most roofers choose not to do !

The use of netting or traps usually results in bats returning and without a exclusion or a real seal up or bat proofing your home will always have continued bat problems and further contamination and health.

There no repellents that work for bats known yet rewarding the internet many will take your money and learn the hard way. Ultrasonic sound devices don’t work in fact I have found bats sleeping on them in homes.

We recommend homeowners have the home from the roof and chimney area inspected by someone at least once a year. You can keep raccoons from re-entering a home by repairing damaged vents, chimney caps, and  eaves etc.

Raccoon Roundworm

Raccoon Roundworm Life Cycle

Baylisascaris eggs are passed in feces and become active within a month. They can remain viable in the environment for years, withstanding heat and cold. According to University of California, Davis, and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, animals become infested either by:
Swallowing the eggs
Eating another animal infested with Baylisascaris

After an animal swallows the eggs, the microscopic larvae hatch in the intestine and invade the intestinal wall. If they are in their definitive host they develop for several weeks, then enter the intestinal lumen, mature, mate, and produce eggs, which are carried out in the fecal stream. If the larvae are in a paratenic host, they break into the bloodstream and enter various organs, particularly the central nervous system. A great deal of damage occurs wherever the larva tries to make a home. In response to the attack, the body attempts to destroy it by walling it off or killing it. The larva moves rapidly to escape, seeking out the liver, eyes, spinal cord or brain. Occasionally they can be found in the heart, lungs, and other organs. Eventually the larva dies and is reabsorbed by the body. In very small species such as mice, it might take only one or two larvae in the brain to be fatal. If the larva does not cause significant damage in vital organs then the victim will show no signs of disease. On the other hand, if it causes behavioral changes by destroying parts of the brain, the host becomes easier prey, bringing the larva into the intestine of a new host.

Clinical Signs Of Raccoon Roundworm  in Humans

  • Skin irritations from larvae migrating within the skin.
  • Respiratory discomfort, liver enlargement, and fever due to reaction to larvae migration.
  • Eye and brain tissue damage due to the random migration of the larvae.
  • Nausea, a lethargic feeling, incoordination and loss of eyesight.
  • Severe neurological signs including imbalance, circling and abnormal behavior, caused by extensive tissue damage due to larval migration through the brain, eventually seizures and coma.

Raccoon Roundworm Treatment

While worming can rid the intestine of adult Baylisascaris, no treatment has been shown to alleviate illness caused by migrating larvae.
